ATTENTION GOLDEN GIRLS!
* Golden Girls are going to Nationals in 2010! That’s right, mark your calendars for the 3rd week of July. The Golden Girls will be travelling to Notre Dame University (South Bend, Indiana) to watch and participate in the 2010 America’s Youth on Parade (AYOP) National Baton Twirling Championships. We will enter a couple of our dance twirl routines, all soloists will compete with their solos, and all other Golden Girls are encouraged to attend to watch some of the very best twirling in the world! Basically the Olympics of twirling, and very inspirational to all. Cost is affordable (can either drive or fly), and Notre Dame is a beautiful campus to explore. Exact dates TBA, but always the 3rd week of July. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!
* THANK YOU SO MUCH to Golden Girl moms Cindy Mackin and Sarah Lindgren who spent hours upon hours making the beautiful green and gold bows for us to use in the CSU Homecoming parade. Their creativity and willingness to help are much appreciated by all! Also, thanks to Cathy Bowles, Lisa Carr, and Amy Smith for helping once again to march with us in the parade and help make our group as organized as possible. And lastly, THANK YOU to Scott Aldous for his help with pushing the music system and being a good sport to wear the crazy wig. You all rock!
* We will not be marching in the Denver Parade of Lights this year for many reasons. We will be performing in the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Outlets in Loveland on November 14th with glow batons (in our warmups and turtlenecks). Also, we are considering marching in Estes Park’s “Catch the Glow” parade the Friday evening after Thanksgiving Day. If you have plans to be gone over that Thanksgiving weekend, please let Ms. Yvonne know asap. We will only march in the parade if we have a great majority of our team members in it! Once again we will be wearing our warm-ups with long-sleeved turtlenecks (and whatever else keeps you warm that you can hide under your warmups), and will be twirling glow batons! We’ll save the month of December for our Golden Girls party, but no performances to worry about!
* Save your shoes: Since finding the Golden Girl twirling shoes can be tough, please consider donating your used shoes back to the group when you grow out of them. Others can use them after you’re done! Thank you!
* Save your knee high socks: We will be wearing the knee high socks every year for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Scottish/Irish Festival parade (in September). Be sure to keep your socks in a safe place near your uniform so you won’t have to buy another pair!
* Private lessons available - If you feel that you would like a little extra time with Miss Yvonne to get better at your routine and/or tricks, contact her at (970) 631-4842 or missyvonnep@yahoo.com to set up a time for private lesson. Cost is $23/hour, $12 for 1/2 hour.
